Monumental Games is launching PRIME, the world’s first commercially available browser-based 3D MMO engine.

PRIME is built on pure MMO technology and optimised to provide the best performance across all types of networks. It provides a complete toolkit for the creation of browser-based light persistent state worlds (LPSW), significantly reducing the investment needed to build full 3D polygon rendered MMO games from scratch.

The technology is fully browser-based and 100 per cent compatible with Facebook, while the downloadable plug-in enabler is sub-1Mb, making installation simple and quick.

Monumental has developed the PRIME engine based on its extensive expertise in developing both online MMO & console games, such as Football Superstars, Little Horrors and MotoGP 09/10.PRIME was formally launched at Games Com in Cologne and Monumental will be rolling it out to a select number of developers before making it more widely available.

Mike Cox, business development director at Monumental is in charge of taking PRIME to market. He said: “Our aim is to make PRIME the premier middleware choice for the creation of LPSW games. To reach the next level of social gaming, browser-based MMOs need to look and feel just as good as console games. PRIME will make this much easier to achieve, freeing developers to concentrate on design and gameplay without the need to build the engine that powers it. We are already talking to a number of developers and we’re excited about what they might come up with.”

About Monumental Games

Founded in 2005, Monumental develops console titles like MotoGP 09 and 10 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it mostly works on PC MMOs — in addition to CyberSports’ free-to-play Football Superstars, it has self-published hunting game Hunter’s World.
